VIEW VIDEO Community Health Clinics In Villages Are In Urgent need of Supplies BO Foundation is one of the first responders that are currently active in sponsoring 3 community health centers in Bassem Yam, Koubri, and Nesmentenga, a few miles from the capital city of Ouagadougou. Taking stock of the Community Health Center of Bassem Yam (one of the medical centers), as they all need attention in repairs on toilet(s), the hand pump water wells, drinking water, water used for hygiene and everyday usage, medical supplies and equipment, and emergency transportation are all in horrible conditions and need immediate service. Donors pure out support for the villages to obtain a water well but if without a tank and solar tower to maintain usage, sanitation regulations the problem of water spillage, soil contamination, disease, deaths, and drought will rise and persist.
The medical technical equipment is another separate issue there all in itself. The medical centers are having issues with regulating sterilization of the medical materials, tools, and equipment. They used to have electrical equipment for sterilization but it is now broken. Because they have a lack of technicians available that are trained to repair the broken down equipment it will likely become a bulk of neglected tools that will eventually turn into trash, then creating more pile up in landfills. This kind of environmental problem ultimately results in another unhealthy environmental issue promoting more diseases. For now, the medical professionals use pots or pans to sterilize these materials that are used for each patient.
Since Covid-19 the BO Foundation has stepped in to provide masks, soap, sanitizers, and supplies for the medical centers. Due to a lack of support, maintenance on tools, equipment, and ambulance trucks resulted in a host of broken material waiting to be serviced and saved.
